Seven top reasons to join the Alameda County Psychological Association (ACPA):

  1. ACPA works to protect your profession--we advocate for bills that enhance your capacity to practice to the full extent of your training and skill, and we oppose legislation that is bad for the public and psychology.

  2. ACPA Information and Referral service is one of the best ways for Alameda County residents to access a referral to your clinical service. Joining the ACPA Referral Services is also a good way to plug into a network of competent psychology specialists.

  3. ACPA provides several Continuing Education programs each year to support your professional development. High quality, inexpensive programs to meet requirements such as ethics and supervision, and newly emerging or tried-and-true treatment approaches are presented at well-organized events with renowned experts.

  4. ACPA supports public health through programs such as disaster relief efforts, depression screening, and media services.

  5. ACPA provides an ethics consultant who can answer members questions and address their concerns.

  6. News and information are regularly provided through a published newsletter and via an announcements and information listserv. Our listserv offers a wide variety of articles about new advances in science, theory, and practice. There is also important up-to-date information about policy and legislation affecting your practice, public and human interest stories, and information about important milestones and events. The information resource for ACPA is also a great way to look for an office or an office renter, or to seek opinions, professional information, or share ideas.

  7. Last but not least, ACPA is your professional community! Open Board meetings, holiday gatherings, and other events provide an opportunity for you to get to know some of the over 1000 psychologists who reside or work in Alameda County. Please support your Association--We need your participation to strengthen our profession!
