Dr. Edelson is a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice in Rockridge, Oakland. She has a doctorate and Masters degree in clinical psychology and is a licensed psychologist in the state of California. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Edelson is a staff psychologist at Kaiser Permanente, Oakland, where she provides comprehensive pain evaluations, individual and group treatments, education for both patients and providers, and program development. She is the co-site director of the Stanford University based Empower study, which compares ways to help patients who take prescription opioids for chronic pain reduce health risks without increasing their pain. She has expertise treating all types of stress-based illness as well as chronic pain conditions. She has expertise in the treatment of women’s pelvic pain conditions, including general pain in the pelvic region and pain with sex and was the pelvic pain psychologist at San Francisco in the clinic of Dr. Jen Gunter. She has experience supervising graduate students as well as doing psychological research in the areas of loss and attachment. Dr. Edelson volunteered in Bosnia and Croatia (‘97, ‘98, ‘99) providing conflict resolution training to children survivors of the war in the former Yugoslavia. She feels passionately about the intersection between mental and physical health and frequently attends trainings and conferences.
