Biography

Caitlin Bruffey attended U.C. Berkeley and received a B.A. in Psychology. She worked at a school in Piedmont, Ca for several years before attending The Wright Institute, where she received an M.A. in Counseling Psychology. She worked at a local High School and Middle School during her Practicum, and upon graduation, began working for an Oakland-based non-profit mental healthy agency as an on-site high school therapist at a Contra Costa County high school. After accruing her clinical hours and becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Caitlin transitioned to become a Program Supervisor at the same agency, where she managed 9 different school sites, and worked as the liaison between the mental health agency and each school site within the school district. Caitlin continued to provide individual therapy to clients in her private practice before choosing to expand her Bay Area-based private practice and return to full-time clinical work. Caitlin provides individual therapy to adolescents, adults, and fellow therapists coping with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, grief, and self-esteem. Caitlin is an integrative therapist utilizing psychodynamic and Control Mastery Theory; attachment theory; and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Caitlin is a certified EMDR therapist, and has completed the 4-day externship for Emotionally Focused Therapy.
